Hi

I have my first wedding make up booking this year and I'm very nervous. It was booked for August but they brought the wedding forward to March and she's just messaged me asking for the trail next weekend!

I'm now panicking even more! I've not done any make up since leaving college nearly 2 years ago. Has anyone got any good tips please? Going to do a good consultation to find out what sort of look she wants. I know she doesn't normally wear much make up. Her bridesmaids are wearing cadbury purple and they are having make up done too. Any advice or hints is much appreciated xx

Hi Suzie
I got a wedding to do in April with same colour Bridesmaids.
The most important thing is to get a flawless, long lasting base.
I use a range of MAC and Estée Lauder foundations with MAC mineralise translucent powder.
I will probably go for a natural, peachy blush with Benefit hi beam for a healthy glow. I am probably going to go with earthy/gold tone eye shadows thinking about the colouring of my Bride with MAC brown gel liner and waterproof mascara. I often use a nude colour lipstick or some brides prefer more pinky toned.
I have had alot of bookings already this year for weddings so I would say get your confidence and go for it as you will hopefully be busy with bridal this year :)
HTH please ask if you need any other help and good luck!
Sophie

Thanks. The bride is someone that I used to go to school with so I'm extra nervous!

She has quite small eyes. Do you have any tricks to help open them up a little? It's so long ago since my course, I need to read up on some tips xx

Get on youtube and watch some tutorials:
Pixiwoo are great

Just be aware that some foundations can cause flashback with photographers flash and be quite careful with using too much shimmer as this may also disagree with flash or appear "shiny" on photos.

Try some looks out on yourself and try not to panic, you'll be fine xx

Write notes of everything you have used and when you are both happy with the result you have the notes there so you can remember what products / colours you used for when the big day comes around.

Or get the face charts like MAC use and detail everything on there.

xxx

Yes I use the face charts too. You can always use the liner to elongate the eyes on the outer corner, use tiny amount light eye shadow smudged under outer corner eye too if that makes sense

hi just wondering werre the best place is to buy mac makeup just starting my make up side up thank you xx

Hey Suzie,

Try to relax and be yourself, your bride will be just as nervous if not more and seeing how relaxed you are will give her confidence - as previous threads have stated a good base is the key I use Arbonne Professional lightweight and long wearing makeup foundation, ask as many questions as you can to determine the look she wants, also show her some ideas using a wedding makeup DVD which you can buy on line, be her friend and simply tell her that you are here to make her day perfect and sometimes trials can take me up to 2 hours to ensure everything is just perfect! I think you'll do just great enjoy it - Jules x

She is having a pre wedding photoshoot the day of the trail so I've left 2.5 hrs to make sure it's all perfect and time to write notes etc.

I'm going to buy a good primer this weekend as that's something I don't have. The only foundations I have are in my make up kit I got after college. I use them on myself when I go out but not sure if I should get something more expensive? I know I will eventually get my money back but cash flow is tight at the moment to invest in a full foundation kit. Wasn't expecting the trial until next month but now it's next weekend and work has been very slow since Christmas xx

You can only buy MAC from MAC. Either instore or online. Don't forget to apply for you Pro card so you're not paying full price.

Hiya dont worry you will be fine! just relax. Be careful with any of estee lauder double wear foundation i made the mistake of getting it luckily i used it on myself first. i looked back on photo and i was as white as a sheep.lol. I have spoken to a few pple about it and its something to do with the spf they put in foundations.
as for the eyes make sure u start with a loverly lighter shade first then go it and shade in the correct places as other pple have sed bobbi B gel liner is fab i also finish most looks with a nice natural thin set of false lashes or a couple of cluster lases on the outer corner to help open up the eye.
just stay calm and u will be fine... we have all been ther!

Nicki I find I get alot of Bridal bookings from Freeindex HTH x

Nicki Ive tried everything but my website is the best thing (though not cheap) I have found over the last few years its trial and error, I like wedding fayres certain ones work well for me but i have learnt which ones to do and not to do. same goes with adverts I have found the ones that work even if they are £100 i dont mind if ive got 3 weddings from it, My main thing is i make sure i find out from every bride where they found out about me then if 5 brides in one month mention a certain advert then u no its working!and after the wedding i send a feed back form with a congrats asking why they booked with me and about the service.
Keep pushing with it even if you find its taking a while, I do it full time now along with a few fashion photographic bits and it has taken me 3 yrs.
X

Estée Lauder double wear foundation has light reflectors in which is why you had a white face with the photo, it's not great for bridal makeup as the flash of the camera bounces of the foundation. Best Estée Lauder double wear foundation is double wear light as it flash proof! It has exactly the same longevity as double ware just abit thinner &ore pliable. I used to work for Estée lauder & would always recommend double wear light for brides. Nth cVx
