Last week I did a nail art day with the lady who originally trained me in nails (NSI and Sparitual). I had a fab day and am keen to get some practice in! But I have a couple of questions..

My trainer was using the sparitual polishes to do nail art with, dipping the long brushes into the bottles. I thought special nail art water based paints were meant to be used? Does this matter?

Also, she showed me how to do some funky designs like marbleing and doing flicks etc. But I'd really like to learn how to do little pictures and I can't find anywhere on the internet which shows you how to do these step by step. Does anyone know where I can look? I've checked even ebay for books but all they have are these design books in Korean, and I want to know how to do actual piccies rather than random designs.

All suggestions gratefully appreciated!

Thanks all x

Hi
When I did my nail art training all I was taught was also the flicks and marbling.
The best way I found is to get some water based paints (usually from most craft stores) and get painting and let your imagination lead the way.
I find that everytime I do this I can sit there for hours because the ideas just keep rolling.:)

When i do nail art i use any pain...nail varnish, water based etc anything really that i can dip my long brush into.

I have found varnish to be the best in terms of not smudging when applying the top coat. HTH

For the most part I use water based acrylics from the craft store like folkart but some time I do have to water them down a bit.

Water based acrylics.
Dry super fast!! And so, never smudge with top coat.
Very cheap, easier to use than polish and wide assortment of colours.k
