Hi I'm a freelance hairdresser and makeup artist, just starting out on my own and due to word of mouth i have got a few clients that live quite a way from my house. This is why i have been thinking of adding for petrol after x amount of miles.I would love your advice as to what you think is reasonable distance for me to start applying this extra cost and how much should the amount be.yesterday i drove 40 mins to get to a client but today I'm driving 5 mins away i dont think its fare(on me or the client) if they both get charged the same.
look forward to your input thank you lisaxx

Perhaps you can charge when you go over a certain amount of miles? 5 perhaps? If you are self employed (or employed) and using your own car, you are allowed to claim 40p per mile. Whether someone would pay that, I don't know?

The other thing is do you charge them there and back?
