Just out of interest. In 5 years I want to have my current salon self sufficient running with a manager, and making. A profit.

In 10 years I want to have bought at least another salon. I am thinking of a different type of salon. I would like to build a brand out of it.

I love my little salon that I have now, but it's not in a good position even tho it benefits from low rates and rent, the footfall isn't great and we've worked damn hard over the last 10 months to build the clients we have, we still are only turning over £400-500per week. If we had a hire footfall we'd have more people to potentially sell our services to. I understand it takes time but if we were in a better posits we could build clients quicker (not necessarily generating a profit quicker)

I'd like a city/large town centre location with parking or near Parkin but I know this costs mega bucks.

Where do you wan to be in 5 and then 10 years?

In 5 years I would like to own the part that I share next to the hairdressers so it's one big building for me and my clients and hopefully because it's bigger employ someone.

In 10 years I hope to have got a new shop that has an upstairs and atleast 2 staff members, I don't want to set my sight too big incase anything were to go wrong I'd like to know that I have a secure client base before I go off opening shops here there n everywhere :)

What a Fab post x x

I want a log cabin in my garden like planky1s!!! thats all i want, i'm obsessed with the idea x

In 5 years time I see my self open my own salon and start to becoming a famous nail technician working with celebs
10 years I see myself opening nearly a salon in every big town of possible and start going global :) I set my goals high so I push myself more to get the things I want in life :) x

In 5 years, I would like to have improved my skills, and gained a local reputation for being the lady you go to if you want really good nails/waxing. I would like to be still in the same salon where I am now, still just working alone (I dont aspire to have a chain of salons and loads of staff) and would like to have a full appointment book with a waiting list because I'm well known as a really good nail/wax tech.

In 10 years I would like that still to be the case, except obviously with even greater skills gained through decent training and experience.

qualified and either renting my own room in a salon or running my own salon within 5 yrs.

In 10 yrs id like to have several salons in different locations with a very specific theme.

My five year plan is a bit slower!

I plan to be working full time in a salon next year. Within 2years I will have done the CND complete or CND conversion. In 34 years I'll be either renting a room or a premises for beauty treatments and by year 5 I hope to have a salon specialising in aesthetic treatments but also offering spa treatments....

10years, I'd like to be making enough profit on teh salon that I could take a back seat, have a salon manager and maybe one or 2 staff. I'd work part time so I could spend time at home with my wee one....

Ah the dream....

I should also point out that by year 5 i will have done my CND training, making a large enough profit to do other training with Illamasque and have been a certified burlesque performer lol.

2 years - be working part time alongside my mobile work so I have lots of income and hopefully some more product training from the salon ;)

3 years - have my babies so only do mobile

5 years - set up my own salon in a desirable area employing a hairdresser or 2 and receptionist

8 years - keep going strong

10 years - start to work less as I employ someone else and I be salon manager only doing a few treatments

30 years - retire and do the odd client whilst still being in charge of my salon which will now have a few staff

40 years - sell salon for megabucks and buy an island with sun sand and sea to retire properly to!!

in the next five years i want to expand my knowledge and work on my skills to a high standard. And hopefully in 10 to have opened a salon.only a small one with myself and maybe 1 or 2 other stylists.

Firstly in 5 weeks time, I would like to of finally decided whether I'm going to train to be a Hairdresser or Beauty Therapist. ( cannot decide at all which to go for and only have 5 weeks left till enrolment).
Whichever I decide to go for, in 5 years time I would like to be qualified to level 3 and be competent in my work.
I did start off having dreams of my own hair or beauty salon but after reading many threads on here about owning a business, its opened my eyes to how much hard work it is. So I think is much rather be employed or rent a chair if I choose hairdressing.
And in 10 years time, probably still doing the same as the 5 years time but just more experienced in my career.
And hopefully at 5 years and 10 years, me and my family will be happy and healthy and enjoying life x

definately look into a combined course, or perhaps you could do both?

I want to spend the next 2-3 years improving as a beauty therapist and nail technician.

In 4-5 years time I want to be training to be a beauty therapy teacher.

I would love to own my own salon somewhere amongst this but this is more of a bonus than an outright goal. I know what products I'd use and what the rooms would look like :)

I have absolutely no interest in owning a salon or employing staff.

I would only ever consider working for myself at home......no high commercial rents, no high running costs and long working hours, no staffing headaches etc etc!

I just want to paddle my own canoe in my my own time and in my own way, earning a fair wage for a first class service and having enough time for my lovely husband, my lovely kids and lovely family.

For me life is about balance and not just about work.

In the next 5 years I would like to finish training up to HND level then go on cruise ships. After that who knows......

In the next 10 years I hope I'll be finished with the lot of it lol!! Ideally I'd like to go into teaching hair but the way alot of the kids are these days, don't think I could stand their attitudes :(

In 5 years I would like to have completed the CND complete course and be working full time as a nail tech.

In 10 years I would love to have my own nail salon in my garden in summer hut/log cabin and have a waiting list of clients as I will be the best tech in the area :)

Long way to go but hopefully one day x

Some people say that it's not uncommon to have a number of different careers throughout your life these days.

Will I still be doing beauty in 10 years time? I don't know to be honest but I think I'd like to.

In 5/10 years time I want to have developed as a nail/wax tech as per my earlier post, but actually my 5/10 year plan for my life isnt about work.

In 5 years I want to be earning enough money to afford 2 holidays a year. Going on holiday is my favourite thing in the world and we can only afford once every 2 years at the moment. In 5 years my kids will be in their 20's and not wanting to come on holiday with their mum and dad any more, so its mine and my husbands opportunity to see the world.

In 10 years I want to still be having my 2 holidays a year, but I also want every room in my house to have been refurbished, and I want to have some grandchildren to spoil. Of course that last goal is a bit out of my control but I can hope!

Some great replies. I love reading about Other peoples aspirations etc. I think its fascinating how everyone is so different and wants different things. I suppose it's how the world works, if we all wanted the same thing it wouldn't work!

I set my goals high, I want to work like a pig to achieve them, i will achieve them.

My dad set his business and he's done amazing, I have had a better start than he had, so in my mind I can do better than he can. I won't stop until I have achieved my dreams.

Can you tell my fav books are Alan Sugar's, Duncan bannatyne's, James Khan etc lol

Al I do is think about my work, how can we do this, how can we achieve this. I think about it so much I am dreaming about work most nights. Wen I am not physically at work, I'm at home reading on here' researching things, thinking of new ways to do things.

I hope my determination along with other things will be the thing that keeps me going when it gets tough (I thought it was tough a few weeks ago but I'm expecting much worse!)

Look forward to reading more :)

Having been in the business now for 18 years or so I am about to venture out into training. I am doing my PTLLS course in the next week and then will be starting my own one to one training. I will carry on with my lovely clients but will not take on any further clients and eventually concentrate on the training of new therapists into my retirement.

I have wanted to do this for a little while now and feel with all the experience I have in the industry, both mobile and static and the various treatments I am qualified in that I can pass on to the lovely young things coming up in the industry.

After that I hope to fade out gradually into the countryside with chickens and a few rescue cows!:D
