Hiya im very new to this! i have decided that i want to train to be a nail technician as i have been doing nails as a hobby for about 4 years just for myself and family. I've been looking at doing a course with essential nails but not sure about the qualification you get with them... if i want to work in a salon do i need a nationally recognised certificate or is any nail course certificate acceptable. i would like to work mobile but start out in a salon for experience. does any one have any advice on the qualifications? thanks :D

To be really honest with you I would ring around the salons you would be likely to look for a job with and ask them what they would expect. This way you are less likely to do the wrong thing. There are so many good companies and some not so good that you could train with.

Essential nails are good if you cannot get to a training centre due to family or work commitments but if you are able to then a course with real live educators is the best thing for you.

As I say, ask around, can't do any harm now, can it? :D

Thanks, I am probably going to need to do a home course as spending 3/4/5 days doing a class wont really be possible. I am just worried about paying for a home course and then not being able to use the certificate!! I think that essential nails would be ok if i am going mobile or working from home as i have already checked to see if you can get insurance.

I will ring a few salons and ask their opinion although i dont know where i'll be working as i move a lot :)

I wouldn't recommend essential nails I just don't think it's good enough for client's expectations of nail enhancements nowadays!

I think you should look at Ezflow or CND/s2

Also..if you do essential nails and decide you want to convert to another company you won't be able to as they won't accept certificate's from essential nails.
