How far have you come in the Industry since you joined Salon Geek?

I have been around here for longer than I care to say and have seen newbies to the industry flourish and grow on here, going from asking all the questions  to passing back that knowledge to another generation of newbies.

My own career has changed quite a few times since joining SG I have been a salon tech, a self employed tech and an Educator for a few brands, worked for a distributor, had a break from everything nails (except SG, you ain't ever getting rid of me!) and I am now back as a self employed salon tech! The circle of life in this industry lol!

Do you know what?, every time I move on I update my profile on here.
It has been kind of like my Geeky CV.

How many of you are sitting with the same details entered when you joined SG? Does it state you are still in training, even though you qualified 2 years ago  and are doing rather nicely now thank you very much ;), but wonder why some geeks seem to treat you like a trainee!

Have you added new skills to your services, as they now show on your posts make sure they are up to date.
If you show as a tanning and brow geek but answer a Nail question, well we nail geeks may take umbrage with you and get all huffy (we do that  )...how are we to know you did a Nail Course last month...unless you put it in your profile !

So go check yourself out and see what others see, and update and be proud of your achievements......and feel free to add some juicy bits here on this thread!!

Awesome thread, Izzi. I'm going to check myself out, now. :)

A timely reminder for me. I started training in tanning and nails, but have reverted to specialising in facials, so I've edited my profile.

I started in the industry in June 2011. I started off mobile just doing nails, lashes & waxing. I have since added spray tans & on 27th Feb I opened my own beauty room above a hairdressers.

I am loving it & am steadily building up my client base.

If anyone had told me last year that I would be doing this I would never have believed them.Follow your dreams girls, no matter how old you are, its never too late.
