    We have a date - July 6th!

Supercutz, I remember you posted a while back that opening guidelines had been released for Northern Ireland . I'm interested in the time gap between these & July 6th please? I know England wont necessarily follow suit, but it's just an interesting consideration. Thanks.

Sterilising protective visors & neck brushes

Thankyou. I think I'll try both of your suggestions.

    Clients after Covid-19

I totally agree about the symptoms and fever. The NHS website is very behind the WHO with symptoms but both still state fever as a symptom though . The government may well decide to use NHS info when issuing our guidelines. I needed one for home as my ancient digital one had broken so I bought a...

Sterilising protective visors & neck brushes

Hi, I have a few visors to use, along with a facemask upon my return to hairdressing after lockdown. I'm interested to know if anyone has tested theirs with a barbicide solution or antibacterial wipes? I've just had a horrible thought that these might make them cloudy after a few uses, & am...

    Clients after Covid-19

True. It depends on your own personal circumstances. All overheads need to be taken into consideration. I'm a freelance mobile hairstylist so I have no overheads unless I am actually working. Clients wait in their own home. They will clear and sanitise an area which I will then spray with...

    Skin tests advice

It would be an idea to check with your insurance company if you intend to send a kit. I checked with mine (Salon Gold) & they do not recommend kits, only a skin test using the same formula you will be applying on the scalp I am mobile so will be doing this the end of June. It means driving to...

    Clients after Covid-19

I have sent an email listing all the (numerous) safety procedures I will be putting in place (obviously there may be changes once we get official guidelines). I've listed PPE I will be using myself and supplying for their own personal use. Cost of card reader transactions too. I have added at...

    Clients after Covid-19

Yes. I bought the thermometer a while back so will still use it. I don't think I worded the previous message well. I guess I was trying to say I'll still have filtered out the 20% that do have symptoms so better than nothing . Thanks all for your input, it has given me food for thought.

    Clients after Covid-19

That is a valid point. But it was a requirement in Spain when they returned (I know info is always changing though). My thoughts are if you didn't take a temperature you would do all symptom free clients regardless, because you would be unaware. I feel safer still refusing any with a...

    Clients after Covid-19

Obviously anything we read now is speculation but I have read that some countries (can't remember which) have stipulated that clients have their temperature taken. I guess it shows a duty of care and, although some people are asymptomatic, others will still get a high temperature. I have already...

    Mobile PPE & money

Hi, obviously we'll need to follow the guidelines when they are issued to us but so far •I have ordered an iZettle card reader(£22), which arrived in less than 24 hrs. If clients want to pay me cash they can count it into an envelope for me and it will stay unopened for a wk. I will not be...

    Skin tests advice

I will be. I read in HJ a trichologist recommended it because clients may have had covid19 without realising and we can't be sure how their immune system will react to colour, even their regular formula. Similar to allergies that may occur after having an allergic reaction to a henna tattoo for...

    Back to work

Not that I know of. A few salons have tried pre-empting what the dates will be & offered appointments even though we have no confirmation. I know one local salon that did that in May & I guess had to cancel. Possibly it's a way of keeping clients engaged & building a level of anticipation?

    Broken wrist advice

And, as an afterthought to my previous lengthy reply, it is highly likely our services will be restricted upon our return, as Germany and Spain's hairdressers weren't allowed to blow dry due to water particles in the air, so we will probably be following suit. Good luck with your recovery.

    Broken wrist advice

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your wrist. I hope it's not too painful. I'm self employed and mobile too. Not sure how long you have been working or how loyal your clients are but I had to have an urgent hysterectomy mid November & was worried about my Christmas trade!! I didn't even tell some...

    Back to work

I've had a couple of clients asking that. They got confused with non essential shops opening mid June & hadn't thought about the fact that we can't socially distance.

High lift colour, which is the best

I have never had any issues regarding the condition of the hair. I usually use this product using traditional foils on long hair and it has always been very reliable.

High lift colour, which is the best

I usually use koleston but prefer majirel for their highlight blondes, much less warmth.

    Disposable aprons

Hi, I can't recommend a brand as I haven't used any before, but I have ordered from 3 different companies from Amazon. They were all in pks of 100 & reasonably priced . I used different companies in case one didn't deliver on the dates. Only one was before 4th july though. I'm not rushing back...
