i have been hairdressing for two years and fully qualified in june. i wrote a post a few weeks ago about my first disaster. i cut a ladies hair and she was not impressed with the outcome. she really knocked my confidence and now i find myself questioning myself eveytime i have a client then i panic that it is being reflected to the clients. im having one of those days where i feel like i am in the wrong job i know i still need to progress but i just feel like nothing i am doing is right. did anybody else feel this way when they first started out properly..thanks  xxx

Hi,
I think everone has the wobbles when they start! Try not to be too hard on yourself.

I have a newly qualified member of staff and she asks me to check all her cuts, this just makes her feel more confident and I am able to give her a few tips along the way.
I also have a member of staff who has been qualified 3 years but if she has done a complicated cut she asks for one of us to give it the once over. This has built her confidence and the clients are happy with this!

No matter how long you have been hairdressing you will always get the odd client not happy. You really cannot win them all. Just remember that if you have done a thorough consultation and you have done the cut to the best of you ability, then you have done your job. You can never expect to 'know it all' so ask your fellow team members for help and advice.

My advice I give my girls is always, never look behind but always infront, learn from your mistakes and work and learn with your team.

Good luck. :)

Yes you are perfectly normal. It takes a little while to regain confidence after a knock. You are not in the wrong job at all, it's all part of the learning curve. x
