Hello Everyone,

Need a bit of advice, am stumped on how to do this.

So, I've seen videos for putting glitters into gel etc, on the videos they but their first layer, then put gel on their brush and dip it in glitter and do free edge, then build nail with gel and finish as usual

BUT

The gel I am trained to use, we only do one bead and one layer, so how on earth could I do glitters and encapsulationif I only use on bead/layer??!

Any advice?

Think my gel is a bit pants, could I use it in layers if I wanted?

Hi, I havent used star nails and not had their training so I am not sure if you can use it in layers or not, I am sure someone will come along soon with an answer, in the mean time tho why dont you check out some of the other companies most of them do trial kits which you could try and and they offer convesion courses so that you can learn to use another product they dont cost the earth so it might be worh your while investing.... I use Young nails and they have lots of tutorials on their website which you might find useful Young Nails - Throughout England and the UK and I know losts of the other companies do too.

Hope it helps a little.

Thanks Claire.

Anybody else got any idea how to do it?

Hiya,

I use Brisa (CND) and I apply bond, then scrub in my bonding layer to the nail plate (cure) , then to do a french, I dip my brush into clear gel, then into my chosen glitter pot & create my french in zone 1, swipe smile if needed - cure, then apply zones 2 & 3 with whatever colour gel is needed & cap the glitter zone 1 with clear, buff, & top gloss - voila! Done.

hi i use akzentz and the way i do it is.>

prep nail, apply affixit or opti bond
then thin layer of either base and gloss or bonding gel (first is soak off other system is buff off),
then mix glitter into clear or builder gel apply to smile line to build and create your glitter tip
or i use akzentz pre mixed glitter gels which are fab, cure then build up behind and over tip to "fill in the dip" with clear builder gel or trilite and make a nice apex. cure then top coat cure wipe fini glitter tips....(unless you need to buff to shape then apply your top coat!)

have a look at nails plus beauty web page they have sample kits and if you call karen she is fab and will advise.... hope this helps and does not confuse u x ccm:D

Thanks Bev,

But the problem Im having is, the gel I am trained in, we only put it on in one layer, for example - dehydrate nail plate, apply one bead in one layer, cure, done !

So how would I do glitter in it? Maybe I just cant :(

What gel is this? Star nails? Just that you have star nails on your profile. I used star nails in college and used two coats. Why don't you just give it a go on a friend or on a false nail, whats the worst than can happen if you test out using another layer? Honest, if I followed some of the traning I got to the letter I would be in deep trouble. I remember when I first left college I thought only two coats of gel could be applied without exception, jus because thats what we had been doing in class, and it said two coats in our manual.

If not, I'm intrigued to know what system only needs to use one coat of gel? I would love some!

Hi Magick,

Yes it is Star Nails, I am using the UV Sculpture Gel and the GF21 Gel, both of which say one bead one layer in their instructions on the pots and in the training manuals. Have a look on www.unitedbeauty.co.uk

I might just give it a go, cause I am only recently qualified Im scared of messing up so am follwing everthing to the letter hopefully in time when I've got my confidence up I'll be doing allsorts of things :)

Im just worried that the gel may not fully cure with glitter in it, but your right unless I give it a go, I'll never know :)

Thanks

I think I'd have to ring Star Nails and ask them directly hun, that way you will have the answer straight from the manufacturer and then you'll be sure you are not applying nails to clients that are undercured and which will give you service breakdown.

Oh, I see. I'm sure the company will be able to recommend one of there other gels that would be suitable for glitter if this one isnt. But still, theres nothing to stop you having a private play around to get the feel for how its done, using a couple of thin layers.
