Hi :D i qualified as a Nail Technician on 5th July 2009 and im trying to build my client base up. i started off quite low priced as it was taking me a long time to apply product and to be honest the work wasnt my best at the start.
I am now quietly confident at my work, and have raised my prices, but im still not sure they are attracting the right clientelle.

How much do u lovely nail geeks advise i charge?
i currently take approx 2 and half hours to do a full set and maintenance. (frustrating but i am working on it)
My work is looking better everytime. i rarely have lifting and they still look good after 3weeks

At the moment i am charging £20 for a full set and £15 for maintenance.
Is this too little ??

Any advise grately received. xx

I charge £50 for a full set, but i've been doing them for years!!!

I would say it's fine to charge £20 - £25 and gradually increase it the better and more confident you get, but make sure they know that you are still learning, so they know the price will go up come time.

You could advertise it as 50% off for trainee nail tech to begin with?

x

I charge £45.00 for a full set £50.00 for sculpted french and £25.00 for infills £30 for french infills, a full set takes me 2 hours and infills up to 1 1/2 hours, but Im in no rush as I work for myself.

If you are trained I see no reason to increase your prices but stay competitive.

No offence to previous poster, you live in guernsey, where the rate of living is alot higher, so therefore everything else is alot higher. I personally and by no means am I experienced am charging £25 for full set of sculptured, £20 for french rebalance, and £18 for pink rebalance. I live in liverpool and tbh, I have alot of girls doing really good sculptured nails here in liverpool and my prices are about the same in comparison.

I am not trying to compete atall,, as I charge what I believe my service is worth,, I take 1hr 40-50 min for full set, and tbh dont know how people get it lower than 1hr 30, if doing correct prep etc. I have not had (touch wood) one client with lifting breaks etc to this day (only 5months) but every one of my clients have re booked for problem free re balances, I put that down to my good training, and emphasis on prep,, yes it takes extra 10 mins,,but might save you 10 customers xxx

With practice and using the right techniques you should be able to make a full set in 1.5 hours and a correction in 1 hour. If you want to understand how to do this, come to Vicki Peters NAIL KAMP workshop in London on the 22nd and 23rd September.
