Hi need some advice were i am going wrong. I use young nails acrylic and have did this clients nails several times. The nails stay on no problem when new set put on but after i do infills they fall off after three days what am i doing wrong . I have used pink and white then a french tip and clear acrylic but this problem keeps happening. Her sister in law use to do gel and they did the same. She says some just pop off but i take care in my preping. Please help xx

If this always happens with whatever nail product is used then she probably just has the wrong body chemistry to wear enhancements. It happens.

If you KNOW you are prepping properly then you can ask her permission to etch the nail plate a bit more with a file. I hate doing this but it does work with some people .. if she wants her nails removing though you need to tell her the consequences of etching and that her nails will take time to recover. Then she needs to sign the client record card that she has agreed to you doing it. Some people just want nails no matter the consequences and others would not let you do it.

Very glad to say I use a product that does not need drastic measures like this to make it stick as I do NOT like to touch the nail plate in any way if I can avoid it.

Thank you so much for your help just feel very disheartened when i do infills and then if see her some days later with them off.

Well if it was happening to every client I'd be disheartened too, but if it is only one client then it is usually a client problem and not something you are doing or not doing.

Geeg - can I ask please..... If a client comes to you who has previously been to a tech who etches nail plate or to a NSS with a vigorous e-file technique, could this affect the ability of a tech who doesn't etch to get a good result with enhancements? I know a girl who went to a NSS for a good few years and she has had another tech try several times to apply enhancements only for them to fall off literally within hours on a couple of occasions. Odd thing is, there are no stress marks to the nail when they fall off - you wouldn't even know an enhancement had been there? Thanks xx

A specific answer would be that there ARE rare clients who need to have the nails etched for some products to stick. These are usually the ones who can't keep polish on, can't keep enhancements on etc.

Generally speaking, when a client has had years of abuse to their nails, it is a long hard process to get their nails into a condition where they will accept a normal prep. So yes , is the answer to your question. If they want their nails to improve, there will be inevitable problems until the nails grow through strong and healthy again. Most give up before the process is complete, which is a shame.

The client really has to commit for 6 months or so and usually the problem can be rectified.
