What age would you say was appropriate to apply acrylics to childrens nails, with parental contact of course?

there was an article in scratch about this, it said if you have parental consent it should not be a problem and it saves them from going into a nss and getting their nails ruin, better a professional.

I recently asked this question to my insurance as am getting a few requests for prom nails and some of them are only 15

My insurance have stated it is 16 or over for enhancements- I am still awaiting a response on party /weekend nails

This drives me crazy, let kids be kids!!! Over 16's only in my opinion!!

I agree 100% for my own kids....but i don't think i have the right to judge what others allow for their kids...and if the mother says yes then who am i to say..."no..let kids be kids"

I cant understand for the life of me why they would want to allow it and allow them to grow up so fast...but they ain't my kids.

^I totally agree

for me it's 16 with the parental note.

True Angie, I wouldnt judge someone and say thats horrific or abuse or anything, I just think kids grow up too fast these days and I'm sorry but I would and have turned under 16's away.

16 for me aswell.

I agree children do grow up fast, but isn't it better they come to us rather than nss, because if the true professionals refuse due to age then they will go to these nss and end up with their nails ruined. If they come to the professionals at least it will be done right and we can advise them better.

yeah but the image a girl gives with her nails done isn't always the most positive you can think of, imo!!

I know but can you also see my point, if it was my daughter (and it won't be because like you she can wait until she is 16) I would rather a professional did it than a nss. The article in scratch was quiet interesting.

I hate to see it...i hate to see girls slapped in make up and skirts up to there buts too...with playboy this and gold digger that...but its up to them and there parents. Its not place to make that decision for them.

My girls will stay little girls for as long as possible...I tell my girls..."your a grown up for a very long time..Your only a kid for a short number of years....so enjoy being a kid"

I agree I have 3 girls and I am like you you are little girls for such a short time enjoy it. But if I was asked to do a young girls nails, I would go through the pros and cons and if she still wanted them done and she had parental consent I would do them as I have had so many people aks me to do their nails once i have qualified because they have had them butchered at nss (their words not mine). In bristol we have about five nss just in the center, I know alot of young girls have gone to them and regreted it. Some people don't care like we do.
