I know what your saying but it is right some places offer a one day course x

In England you can do a long distance learning course from home and be qualified! It's ridiculous and I think more regulations should be in place : (

Totally understand where you're coming from but I'm afraid that is just the way it is :/
I think it may be because there isn't usually any styling/cutting/colouring of the hair, just simply applying the extensions.
There are sooooo many 1-2 day extension courses for beginners out there!
Xxx

Im shicked im gutted by these replys i was hoping someone would tell me yiu cant do the course unless your a hairdresser. How do these people know the construction of hair. The different hair types. What hair is over prosessed ect and if they are even valid for the client. I think its shocking. Were gonna get an influx of people over here on camp doing them and messing up peoples hair! Its shocking! :(

Do you offer them too? If so, let your work speak for itself.

If not, you will have a lot of custom, fixing peoples hair.

Not this debate again..

I'm an extensionist without being a hair dresser. Doesn't make me worse then you.

So let me confirm yet again about this petty ridiculous argument/debate on this review.

As an extensionist I have seen some of the worst work done by qualified hair dressers. Some of the best extensionists out there are not qualified in hair dressing, and vise versa.

Just because I'm not trained in colour and perms does not make me any worse then a hairdresser. People that do extensions do them every single week rather then the odd set here and there, which gives us an advantage over a hair dresser.

One day courses are not brilliant - but we receive the same amount and quality of training as a hair dresser would. We study about hair textures and types, were trained in this too, and trained to apply, maintain, and remove extensions safely with no damage - just like a hair dresser. Being a hairdresser does not mean you will be better at application, maintenance or removals then I or anyone would. Most have done cutting courses to learn how to cut and blend extensions into the clients hair - without touching there natural hair.

I have been on in total 5 full days of application of extensions and 7 days cutting along with 4 years experience, so does this mean I'm incapable of applying extensions then a 'hair dresser' who has attended a 1 day course? Hope not.

We have more time to dedicate our selfs to learning, testing and trialling extensions then a hair dresser.

So I would call it pretty even wouldn't you?

I worked in a hair loss/ hair extension salon. 75% were not trained hairdressers, they were excellent at their job.

A lot of Nail technicians aren't beauty Therapists.

It's a different field, I'm a qualified hairdresser and I'm not great at extensions and chose not to do them. The post above is a non hairdresser who is probably great at extensions.

I know many celebrity extensions are who aren't hairdressers.

I think it's great you specialise , better than being a hairdresser who's crap at everything.

"These people" I can only assume are the ones you are referring to that go on a fast track course and nothing else? Please don't assume that all extensionists are alike. Without getting into it as it's been debated again and again, you cannot be taught how to be a professional or be passionate about your work, or have the hunger for knowledge. I've seen crap haircuts from trained hairdressers, crap extensions from hairdressers, crap hair extensions from suppliers AND trainers, crap hair extensions from trained extensionists

Training courses for extensions are in my opinion rather rubbish, they're not regulated so you're right in saying fast track courses create an influx of extensionists, but incorrect in saying they will all be rubbish at what they do. Most courses are over priced for what you're taught, some are worth every penny

It makes no difference if you are trained by the best in the world or mr blobby himself,. As a hairdresser or extensionist or both, if you don't have the passion, professionalism and knowledge you have nothing.... The end ;-)

Amen to that

Look how many people take a two year hairdressing course, are rubbish, but still get to say they are NVQ 2 qualified.

Hair extensions fitted by a trained extensionist. Haircut by a qualified hairdresser. Both are a disgrace

I know it happens but to weigh it up I'm a qualified hairdresser and have been for 10 years but I can admit I wouldn't know how to fit a set of extensions ;)

My Level 3 hairdressing NVQ had a total of 1 days extensions training and the woman who was doing the training was worse than appalling.

I'd say some of these ladies who aren't hairdressers can almost certainly do a better full head of hair extensions than I can. I've had to read online manuals, follow tutorials and practise on my block and friends to gain competency because college sure didn't teach me.

I'm saving up to do some extra hair extension courses.

Wow ladies! Yes point taken, i apologise for any offence caused this wasnt meant to ruffle your feather it was just a piont that i dont see how you can do a 10am till1pm course for 2 days and in that time fit and remove a full head learn about spacing, consultations colour matching ect, and yes ive seen a few mistakes made by level 2 hairdresser x

Top picture done by an extensionist who has been a qualified hairdresser for 6 years.
Bottom is my best attempt at fixing them with the state of her hair and the bonds.
I have no hairdressing qualifications, only hair extensions.

(Top picture bonds had been in less than 2 weeks)
