Hi @pinkthistle,

If you decide to stay with your previous insurer but use us for your specialist cover, you would need to pay for basic membership too, so £89 + the relevant extension. My understanding is that you are able to hold two policies but would be unable to claim on them both, however I would like to check that with our brokers to confirm for sure. I will make the necessary checks for you in the morning and let you know.

Kindest regards
Kelly

Hi @Pinkthistle

I've had clarification on this and to quote our brokers 'It's illegal to claim for the same thing on two policies i.e. Being paid twice, but not if the other policy doesn’t cover what the second policy does. However we can’t insure extensions by themselves as they are an extension of the existing basic policy.'

They've advised that you'd need to make a choice rather than having two policies, but to also check your level of cover to ensure it does meet all of your needs.

Happy to answer any other queries you may have,

Kindest regards
Kelly

Hi @Lala12,

We insure based on the treatment, not the manufacturer/product house. For example gel nails, spray tanning, facials etc are all insurable based on the fact that you are competent to deliver that treatment, regardless of whether you trained with one product house and are now using another as long as they don’t a) have any additional techniques and b) you use them in the way you were taught. Are you concerned about a specific treatment?

Hi Kelly,

Thank you for staying up late to answer our queries.

Yes, I have an NVQ3, which included face and body electrics modules in microdermabrasion, micro-current, etc. Please would you confirm whether the NVQ modules are sufficient for insurance purposes, or is it a requirement to have training on each separate piece of machinery from the manufacturer in addition to the NVQ modules? I need clarification on when extra manufacturers' training is needed, please.

Ah...ok. I can't make a choice though as my other company doesn't offer the cover I need...just basic treatments and you don't offer employers liability on a salon policy...so no win situation for me unfortunately.

All part of the service :)

If you have a level 3 qualification, that is completely acceptable for insurance purposes. All we would ask it that you send in the module breakdown with your certificate so that we can add the correct modules on to your policy.

As we've said previously the insurance is based on your ability to carry out the treatment, so we do not require you to produce a certificate for manufacturers training for each individual piece of equipment you purchase but would expect you to fully understand how to operate that particular machine.

I hope this clarifies things.

Kindest regards
Kelly

We are investigating the ability to add employers liability onto the policy. Let me find out where we are at with that in the morning and I'll come back to you.

Hi @Pinkthistle,

I've sent you a PM with some details.

Its really werid but i have two policies and have never been told its illegal. (i can understand if you are claiming on both however) Both policies are with two separate entities and they have a basic cover, everything apart from mda, so i went to another where more treatments are covered including mda. Both policies are insured by the same underwriters, groupama. I let my exisiting broker know by sending all the additional policy and see if on renewal i could have this included on the wording and the new one that what i had policy for; both know what i needed insurance for and they were happy- as it was the same underwiters. It was peace of mind knowing that. As i felt my hands were tied if i could not do the mda all because the wording, to with my broker suggested that they could try to include or find another broker to include these for me. In the end i am very happy with the comprehensive cover for both. hths xoxo
