I'm currently doing my nvq2 with the carlton institute and the course structure is very similar to what you describe here

the course i'm doing is hard work but hopefully it's going well (i'll clarify once I've passed: touch wood)

Glad to see somewhere doing fast track hair courses, I've not seen many of those about so I might just have to take a furher look at this one
