Best Topcoat to prevent chipping

Hi,

Wonder if anyone can advise whats a good topcoat to use over polish to prevent chipping? I used to use creative polishes but found they didnt dry very quick so changed to opi but they chip after only 2 days. I use inm out the door fast dry topcoat. i dont want my clients not returning because the polish wont last.

Any suggestions pleeeeeeeaaaseeee?????

If you find that your polish is chipping with both Creative and OPI polishes then I would look at your application rather than the brand. I have used both, and currently stock OPI and clients will still have their polish on after 2 weeks and on the toes it lasts until it grows out!

Make sure you totally remove oils from the nail prior to applying a thin layer of base coat, followed by 2 thin coats of colour and then a thin layer of top cot. The key is applying thin coats.

I use Jessica (whose Brilliance won the Instyle best top coat award this year) & unless the client is using their nails like a pocket knife the colour stays for ages! You are probably already doing it, but coating the varnish & top/base coats over the tip of the nail helps with longevity.

have you tried the opi topcoat?

i've been using this whilst practicing and polish is lasting a week easily, sometimes longer!

I love Seshe Vite fast dry top coat it's fab. One of my clients who has a 18 month old son, her varnish can last over a week with this top coat. And they definitely get a lot of abuse.

Seche Vite is a super air dry top coat, it penetrates through to base coat and is a fast dying top coat.

My uv top coat of choice is LeChat Glace. I'm testing it on a client that is a card dealer at a casino. So far no chipping, peeling.

Either brand last 3 weeks.

thanks everyone i'll try a coupe of these topcoats. i use scrubfresh then stickey base coar then 2 coats polish and one coat inm top coat seems to last better on toes than on fingers.

I agree make sure you bring the polish down the free edge.
I usually use super shiney top coat as there is little in the difference and I find SS to be quite a tough top coat. or try one coat SS one coat OTD

i know its not used in too many places but i find china glaze non chip top coat to be brilliant, (u can get it from sallys) ive used it for about a year and always had great feedback from clients, even when used for pedicures

Ciate's speedcoat..........is by far the best topcoat that i have ever used, i use it along wiv the underwear and the ciate paintpots and it lasts 2 weeks no problems and no chipping, its brilliant

I would advise not to use a fast-drying topcoat if you are seeking longevity.

I use 99% alcohol to cleanse nail plate, protein bond from Young nails, 1 coat of CND sticky, 1 coat of OPI polish, 1 coat of sticky, 1 coat of polish, finish with OPI topcoat. We call this a "sticky sandwich".

I just had a client come in after 3 weeks with only 1 nail chipped!

Been doing it this way for years with no complaints.
