Hi all, new today to the site and new to the business as my previous occupation fell flat on its face (mortgages)! I am doing it section by section when I can afford it. I've now completed manicures and am in the process of purchasing all necessary equipment. I am unsure what course to do next as have a lot of conflicting info. One has said Acylics is the most popular, another has said will only use gel as acrylics is too harsh on the nail. I have recently been told I should do bio gel nails as they are as strong as acrylic and good to the nail. Can anyone please advise me on which route to take. Thank you.

Welcome to the site.

Whoever advised you did not give you correct information re gel and Liquid & powder (what you call acrylic).

The first thing you need to know is that all systems are acrylic based.
The second is that there is no system that is safer or better than another. It is bad nail techs that damage nails not products.
The next thing you need to know is that L&P is the most asked for system of nail enhancement and has been for the last 30 years -- the reason is that it is the strongest and most durable system and suits 99% of clients. It is in my opinion also the most beautiful and versitile.

If gel is the most popular treatment in your area then I'd say go for that, but otherwise I would say start with L&P for sure.

Then you get into the complicated world of gels as not all gels are equal. there are soak off gels and buff off gels. Not all L&P systems are equal either, some being very ordinary and others being extraordinary!!

I suggest you go to the articles section of the site and look for articles on choosing the right gel system for you.

At the end of the day .. you will need to learn both systems BUT take your time over this and master one before the other. My advise is to go for L&P first. It is the most demanding of your skills but if you can master them you can master anything else easily.

Wow loads of information, and such a quick reply, thank you so much. I will certainly check out the articles section and look into the right course for L & P. I certainly intend to master each section before I move on. I am really looking forward to getting stuck in. Thanks again.
