Bleach blonde to dark blonde

Hi all,

I have a client tomorrow who had bleech blonde mid lengths and ends and is struggling to maintain this. She wants to be a darkder blonde but also something that is going to look natural with her darker roots. Her roots are about a base 6. Would it be best to drag her root down and then balayage with darker blonde tones or just put an all over colour on to tone the bleech blonde down?

I think your first idea sounds better, could you even use something like her base colour as a lowlight along with the balayage to help blend the root through to help break up the all over blonde, just need to make sure its warm in colour, so it doesnt look to flat x
