Hi, I'm new to this site and also to nails. Just on with a technician course, about to start with the acrylic system but can't seem to move past the manicure stage because i keep getting bubbles when i use varnish?!?!?!?! Can anybody help me please? I'v tried wiping the nail with remover, that doesn't work and i'v tried buffing but that also failed.... Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated?x

Do you shake the bottles before applying?? You should never do this. (Roll the bottle between your two hands)
If you use the college polishes, some of the other students might be doing it so it's a good idea to bring in some of your own polishes with you.

Firstly welcome to the site chick

Before you start to varnish try rolling the polish between your hands rather than shaking it. If you are shaking it will be causing lots and lots of tiny air bubbles inside the bottle that will then be transfered to the nail.

Also try doing a few layers of thinly applied varnish rather than 1 thick layer.

Another solution is to make sure the nail plate is thoroughly clean before your application, you can do this by using polish remover and squeaking the nail (i mean squeaking as when you rub the nail it will squeak) Or use some scrub fresh and give the nail a very good wipe over. HTH

Most importantly.....dont rush! nice steady even strokes:green:

Thanks for the advice. Thinking about it, i'm pretty sure i do shake the varnish before i apply. I'd better stop!! Awww thanks guys x x

First The nail must be squeaky clean before you apply anything. Free of all oil and other contaminants and cleansed with Scrub Fresh.

Then a top quality base coat such as CND Stickey Base coat.

Also use a top quality professional polish. Cheap ones often bubble. Apply 2 thin coats. If it is a top quality polish like CND colours then 2 thin coats is all you need to get perfect coverage.

Finish off with a protective top coat such as Air Dry or Super Shiney and you will have bubble free polish.

Bubble problems are not all about shaking the bottle.
