Habia are currently recruiting a team of experienced industry experts to join an Advisory Committee to support the development of the Professional Registers in Beauty, Nails and Spa.

The voluntary registers were launched in October with support from the Government via UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES). They are delivered in partnership with sector skills council SkillsActive who operate a number of professional registers including the very successful Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).

A key function of the Advisory Committee will be to guide how the registers need to operate in order raise standards in the sector, be responsive to industry developments and to add value for industry professionals, employers and consumers alike.

Richard Lambert, Habia Sales and Marketing Director, stated, “We have been very clear that the registers are an industry initiative; the Advisory Committee is the vehicle that ensures ongoing transparency and true ownership by the sector. We are looking for a mix of people representing beauty, nails and spa but also with a variety of backgrounds including from employers, educators and industry brands.”

Positions on the committee will be voluntary, requiring three meetings per year. One of the first objectives of the group will be to define the continuing professional development criteria (CPD).

SkillsActive’s Compliance and Standards Manager Jacqueline Vidal added, “A commitment to defined CPD is a critical feature of any professional workforce. Our industry can be very fast paced with new products, technologies and treatments being introduced all the time. Part of the registers’ objectives is to ensure the sector has the skilled workforce to meet these challenges and provide exemplary service to clients.”

Industry experts who are interested in being part of the Advisory Committee should submit a CV with a brief covering letter to [email protected]. The terms of reference can be seen by visiting:
