Yesterday saw the introduction of new European-wide laws introduced by the European Commission that will turn the spotlight on labelling of beauty products. The European Commission aim to strengthen safety standards and provide consumers with better information.
The new cosmetics regulations have been three years in the making and are intended to test and verify the labelling and efficacy of every product in beauty. Going forward, labels will have to include information regarding "responsible persons" with contact information for those people in charge of ensuring "product compliance and maintaining up-to-date safety assessment on file."
Beauty companies will have to follow more rigid guidelines on product safety and all items will have to be submitted to a centralised European electronic notification system for safety evaluation.
Until then...geek on!
