Hi there!! I'm after a bit of advice really. My dream job is to train new technicians. I was just looking for a bit of advice on what I'd need to do to get to this level so I can plan ahead. I'm guessing I would need to become a master technician, I currently use Creative L&P and Gel but I am taking a Ezflow conversion shortly just because I can really lol and I'm a bit of a training geek lol Also would I need a PGCE in teaching?? Any advice or tips would be great!! Thank you in advance!! xxx

Training qualifications depend dramatically depending on where you plan to train...

You firstly need to decide wether you want to train at a college or for a company (brand)
Then you need to contact the education provider you are interested in working for and finding out what you need to do...

ah ok great thank you. So what would I need to work for say creative??

you would need to be a master in all areas - therefore a grand master,
then you can apply to become an International Educational Ambassador -
for which, if you are accepted you have to do a Creative Institute training
which is very full on, and if you pass you can then educate

Hth's

Hi, My creative trainer told us it was incredibly difficult to get to where she was. It was very intense training ( like a boot camp) and they had to memorise EVERYTHING word for word but i suppose its all worth it in the end, knowing that you have been able to train people to the highest standard. I also think you would have to have the patience of a saint ( which she did, she was great) Good luck to you and I hope you get there x

Good advice from Envy there.

I have been an Educator for CND and am now an Educator for EzFlow........and being an Educator is a dream job!!

With both companies you need to have experience in the Industry, and have gained their highest qualifications. like Grand Master or Master Artist.

CND bootcamp is very rigorous as has been said, but an extremely enjoyable and rewarding experience (once it is over lol ).

When I converted over to EzFlow I had to do all my conversions, and courses, thankfully I was fastracked through them all, which was an exhausting few months, but I was really missing being in a classroom as an Educator so I didn't mind!!!

Educator traning with EzFlow was also a nervewracking experience but again highly enjoyable.

One of the best things is when you get to that level, then the people who are teaching YOU are the top people in the Industry e.g. Mr Sweet, Amanda Fontanarossa , Sam Biddle and the one and only Anthony Buckley to name but a few.

I am currently working towards my 7303 City & Guilds qualification, as I always want to gain knowledge and perfect my teaching skills.

My style has certainly changed over the years, although I couldn't have been that bad at the start, as some of the first students I taught are still in regular contact with me.

One thing I will say about being an Educator which is important, is that you don't need to be the best nail technician in the world !! I have seen some fantastic nail technicians in my time, but they would make terrible educators, as they can't understand why other people can't do what they can do, and get frustrated.

You need to know your subject inside out, be a good communicator, and be able to motivate and support your students.

IMHO The best quality for an Educator to have is empathy, so if you have that, then get in touch with whatever Company or College you want to train with, and find out what else you need and go for it!!

If you are interested in becoming a Creative Ambassador then get in touch in writing with Samantha Sweet at Sweet Squared Ltd., 1 Clayton Wood Bank, Leeds LS16 6QZ and send her your CV. Samantha will explain what you need to do to qualify.

It is hard work but very worth it in the end to represent the number one brand in the world and to be part of the only education team in the UK that has won the Beauty Industry award for the Best Nail training 2 times over companies like Dermalogica .... YES ... quite an achievement. CND are justifiably very proud of their team and keep the standard HIGH.

Thank you very much. I know i'm no where near teaching standard yet and I have a long way to go but I love the idea of one day working for the likes of Creative Nail Design and train other people to get them as happy as I am :D!!! I will definately write a letter to Samantha. Thank you so much for your advice!!

It is the will and desire the passion and the ability to inspire others and to see that your students 'get it' that makes a great teacher ... not the standard of the nails you do. Nail Standards we can easily elevate .. if a person is not like the above, we can't fix that.

well i'd like to think I am that type of person. I know what its like when things just click and everything makes sense!! its the best feeling ever!!! The only thing I was wondering is if I was able to become a educator (FINGERS CROSSED) would I then be working for creative nail design or would I be self employed??? Sorry about all the questions!!

PS also is there any age restrictions or are the opportunities the same??

Speak to Samantha or pm me. I think to go into it all on the site is not a good idea. No age restriction and Ambassadors are self employed.
