Hi, I'm completing my first assignment for Beauty Therapy II and am doing contra-indications. As well as all the usual ones we have to say why we might not be able to treat people with systemic medical conditions. I have done epilepsy and just have high blood pressure to complete.
Is it correct that you shouldn't give someone with high blood pressure a foot spa as it raises it higher? Also is there any other treatments you should avoid?
Thanks loads,
Carrie :) :)

I am not a skin geek but I would say to anyone who is doing any sort of treatment that might affect someones medical conditions, Please don't ask your friend or your geek:hug: if something goes wrong standing up in court and saying that you asked the on line geeks is not going to save you from getting sued.
Nor do I think you should tell your client to go and get a letter from their very busy doctor. I have found that the best person to ask is my GP's practice nurse, we have several at our surgery and they are bril, I always ask to speak to them after surgery hours and I find that they not only give me the answers but often give me the reason behind the answer in a lot clearer way then I've had from text books or collage lectures.
Please don't take this as me having a go hun, I promise I'm not but no matter how good someones nvq or btech is it's never going to beat a medical degree:hug:

As a skin geek who did her training a few years ago you MUST get a doctors letter or your insurance will not cover you, a letter from a practice nurse will not satisfy your insurer.

Also use your text books and the college library to research the subject, you will remember it better that way than if someone just tells you the answers.

The answers they are looking for will be the ones in the books and are pretty standard.

Thank you both for your help :) :green:
