Uk the rest is a secret !!!
We have a client booked in soon, she is having chemo and wants her hair permed? Her nurses say its ok
What you'd thoughts out there??

I am not a hair dresser but I volunteer at a cancer support centre and the ladies on chemo are overloaded with toxins and a lot have tender scalps. If she still has hair is she using the freeze cap durimg sessions? I would personally not like to do it but as I say I am no hair expert x

I would be cautious. Firstly, check with your insurance company. They may require something in writing from her consultant.

Also, do a couple of strand tests if possible, to see how it reacts.

As the previous poster mentioned, her scalp may be especially sensitive. What sort of perm were you thinking of using? Could you do a wind that leaves a gap near the scalp for instance?

I wouldn't do it. Not everyone looses their hair during chemo, however the hair can be left fragile, but agreed the lady will be on so much medication, generally not well etc there are to many contraindications. If it turns into a frizz ball she will feel even worse.

a lot of my ladies have chemo and the specialist hair nurse always tells them no chemical treatments whatsoever until at least 3 months after the last chemo, personally I wouldn't perm this ladies hair

Aww thanks everyone, I made the decision to say no as soon as I wrote this, unless she could get a letter from her consultant. She's ok about it tho.going to wait.x

While going through treatment hair should not be in contact with any sort of chemicals
