hi, I'm a complete newbie here.

I have recently passed my level 2 skincare and starting facials soon. I have been asked by a friend to use a steamer and do extractions in our facials, haven't used one on my training and wondered if any tips? especially on cleaning extraction tools.

I've been given a steamer through a friend of a friend, no instructions etc. Only few months old but lots limescale inthe jug/elements. Hows best to clean this? Can I use de-scaler?

Thanks, and love this site. xx

No use bicarbonate of soda or white vinegar and run it through well after especially if you use vinegar. Then only use distilled water in future unless you are in a soft water area.

Thanks Gillian, I'll try that. x

Hi
Make sure the steam is coming out fully before you put the steamer over the client's face and when you do place it about 18 inches from her nose with the steam flowing up the face from chin to forehead. take client's skin type into consideration - from 3 mins for dry skin to about 8 mins for oily skin. don't forget to place damp cotton pads over the eyes and when finished push steamer away from client before turning off so there is no chance of dripping scalding water onto her. oh! and don't fill the beaker up too much as the water may start to drip out once it starts to boil. hope this helps.
