Hi guys,

I have been advertising for models so that I can do acrylic enhancements, manicures and Minx. So far I have been quite pleased with the response. However I had someone contact me today who is happy for me to do her nails but they are long. I obviously wouldn't want to cut them down just to put enhancements on, and I know I can offer her the option of a manicure and/or Minx, cos I don't want to lose a potential client. I posted on here recently about gel overlays and wondered about doing these but I haven't done any yet and although i have bought some cheap gel colours to practice with they dont have any info about what lamp to use or curing time (which serves me right for buying from Ebay!:o) Is there anything else I can do?

I just read this post back and it sounds really stupid, but I am a terrible worrier and any replies would really help. I would really like to offer the overlay but don't want to mess up.

Hi I wouldn't use them then, :) just do an overlay with acrylic or minx, I wouldnt put a product on anyones nails you dont know about or havent trained in it's not worth it :)

Thank you- would this mean a thin layer of coloured acrylic over a prepped natural nail? Or i think i remember from one of my previous posts, if you use glitter, to sandwich it between clear?

Hiya yes thats right do a thin coat of clear before the color,or u could do her a pink and white ect ect :)

There is only one thing you can do with that gel...introduce it to the bin! You need to know your products, whats in them, how they work, where they have come from etc etc which you cant possibly know if you have bought them off ebay.
You can still overlay her nails...with liquid & powder...it doesn't have to be gel!

Just be careful if your thinking of doing a colour/glitter overlay with liquid & powder if it is not something you have practised at all before it can be quite tricky keeping it all nice and thin.
If she has nice long nails then how about doing a clear overlay then a nice polish on top...you get to practice two different things then. :green:

The gel is going in the bin! I should have listened to the little voice in my head that told me not to buy them.:o Thanks for your advice, I feel really silly :o
