Coloured Acrylic keeps chipping!!

Hello!
So im new to the nail industry and have done my second set of coloured acrylic. I have noticed on both my clients that have coloured acrylic, it always chips off the edges?
does any body know why this happens? it makes the nail look so ugly!

When I do coloured L&P I apply a thin layer of the colour then apply a layer of clear over the top capping in at the free edge this should help to stop it chipping :hug:
