Confused with the CreativeSpa Manicure steps?

I have just been revising my CreativeSpa notes for the manicure and im really confussed with the two lots of notes i have.

In the printed step by step guide it states to trim, shape and use Cuticle Away in Step 2; Nail and Cuticle Care (after the soaking step) But in my hand written notes it says to do the trim, shape and cuticle work in Step 6; Meticulous Manicure (this being after the finishing lotion and before a polish)

Which one should it be or does it matter? Which step do you do the trim, shape & cuticle work?
I always thought you shouldn't shape the free edge when the nail plate is soft after soaking, only on toe nails.

I always shape the nail and do cuticle work first - HTH

I went through my 3rd lot of notes last night taken from the CreativeSpa video and the shape is done before a soak so i will do it in that order too.

After reading through a thread last night, a soak isn't always nessersary esp if they have weak, brittle nails so i may not even do a soak just a fingertip swish after cuticle away.
