Hi geeks, a very basic question I'm afraid......I don't seem to be able to control the amount of glue....I'm using CND gelbond and always end up with way too much....it just seems to gush out of the tube!! Now I'm guessing if there is leakage onto the nail plate this will affect the adhesion of product. any top tips of how to avoid this, or what to do if you do get too much glue on.
Thanks, Lou xx

Gelbond can be a wee bit tricky and takes a bit of getting used to, make sure you don't squeeze the tube before opening it then give it the gentlest of squeezes.

Don't worry about getting to much on the nail plate just take a pad and wipe down the nail towards the end of the tip this will make sure there is none on the nail plate

This drives me nuts too! I find i need to give a little squeeze to get some out...but then it just doesnt stop! I've wasted so much gel bond! I avoid using it now and have got used to working with speedbond which i much prefere now as i have a little more control over it! I just keep a tube in case speedbond isnt suitable. I do as mentioned above by klassy klaws just wipe upwards toward the end of the tip if i get too much that it comes onto the nail plate and get no problems doing that.

Why not try a brush on adhesive,I use IBD and its so much easier to control how much your using.

I don't use CND's glue, but I use one that also comes out of a tube. Once you've used your glue enough you kinda get the idea of how much pressure you need to use to get the right amount out. I've always pushed out a little dab (you get the right idea of the amount you need just like you get used to knowing how much gel you need for a finger etc) in the center, then used the tip of the bottle to spread it around the well. If you can still see you have way too much glue, I would hold the side with the glue upsidedown and let any excess run out (dab it on a lint free wipe or something). If there's excess glue on the nail plate, wipe it with a lint free wipe then when your filing to blend the tip, gently file off the glue. And make sure if you've used to much glue to pull back the clients skin under the free edge to make sure she's not attached to the tip. :)

I guess we all need reminding AGAIN that we use ADHESIVE in the nail industry and not glue! Get used to saying it and use the professional and correct terms for what we use.

Glues are made form animal proteins.
Nail technicians use chemical adhesives. Please learn to get this right .. it just sounds so bad when professionals say glue.

As far as controlling Gel Bond is concerned .. it is important to remember NOT to squeeze it like toothpaste from the bottom of the tube, but to squeeze gently from the top of the tube so you don't build up any pressure that keeps forcing it out. This really is logical and easy .. there's nothing wrong with GelBond .. only in how you are using it.

This is exactly what i do! :smack: :o
I cant beleive it never occurred to me to squeeze from the top! Next time i need to use this i'll remember now. I blame my mum for telling me to always squeeze from the bottom

Thanks everyone, and Geeg, I stand corrected, apologies...:smack:.(I actually noticed when checking back that the title of the thread had changed)

I've managed it much better today.....I think the problem started when I first opened it I unintentionally squeezed the tube when puncturing it, and it's only now got to the point after a couple of uses that that pressure has been released.

Thanks again, Lou x
