Is this possible? If so, does anyone know how?

If it's possible to view the entire publisher file on the screen at once, then one way of doing it would be:

(1) Download IrfanView from IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide (or use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro if you have them already).

(2) Open the Publisher document, and make sure you can see all of it on the screen.

(3) Press ALT-PrintScreen

(4) Open IrfanView, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro or whatever.

(5) Select "Paste" (or "Paste as New Image") or whatever - this should paste a screenshot of whatever was in Publisher and shown on the screen.

(6) Ideally, use the crop tool to get rid of the bits of the screen that you don't want - leaving just the Publisher document.

(7) Save as a JPG image from within IrfanView, Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

There's probably better ways of doing it, but that is a simple way that should work...

Thanks Ruth, just tried it and it worked!!!!

Thanks so much. xxx

You can also just click "save as" and change the format to "jpeg" from the drop down list (altho i would suggest saving a normal copy too just incase you decide you want to change it..lol)

Hi Gem, What version of publisher are you using? Think mine might be an old one, can't see that option. x

Cool, thanks for that. I haven't got Publisher here, so just came up with a generic method that should work for anything (even though it would be far better to use "save as" just like you say)...

im using 2007 version chick, the drop down box is just under where you would type the file name and is named "save as type" and the drop down box will give you all sorts of different formats to save it in.

Save a master copy as a PUB file, then click "save as" and save it to anything you like.

But if you want to save it as a picture file, save in an uncompressed format such as TIF, PNG or BMP, then when you shrink it to your needs, you will not loose quality, as each time you alter a JPG, it looses quality (as each time you edit and saves it compresses an already compressed image).

When you have finally got it to the size you want "then" save it as JPG.

Good advice Carl. I'd also add to that by saying to avoid BMP if possible - as BMP is a completely uncompressed format (so BMP images take up shed loads of hard drive space) - whereas TIF and PNG are "lossless compression" formats - so they take up less hard drive space than BMP while still not losing quality.

Out of the two lossless formats, I would go with PNG though - as I think it has the greater compatibility with most graphics software out there these days (nearly all web browsers support PNG images too)...
