So I’m seeing lots of people recently balayaging and leaving out the roots and then when it comes to toning, they also apply a different toner to the roots. What is the purpose of this? To darken the roots slightly Orr?? Very curious as it always looks gorgeous after. Thanks.

It’s called a root shadow it gives depth and blends

I do this a lot, I normally lighten the ends to the base I need and then I will usually apply a root colour of something close to the clients natural level or darker if desired, and then blend that into a toner for the mid lengths and ends. Helps blend the colours, gives a flawless finish with beautiful shine!
I usually use wella colour touch for this
