This is just a general question but one that I have always wondered about.
If you have an acrylic nail that has lifting and cuticle oil is used regularly, do you think the oil could make the lifting worse?

I know this theory goes against our motto to oil regularly but maybe someone could tell me the scientific reason for oil not having an adverse effect on a lifted nail.

I do of course agree with the benefits of oiling acrylic but just wondered if it could contribute to the lifting at all? i.e. when the acrylic is lifting and the oil seeps under?

Hope I don't sound too silly asking this but here goes!

I should think the oil might help it lift......BUT the big problem would be why are you getting lifting in the first place.....

That would be more worrying to me than the oil helping ,or not the lifted area......hth xx

Oil will not cause lifting to get worse.

Lifting is where adhesion has been lost. In most cases this is due to poor prep leaving the surface in a state that product cannot bond to thoroughly.

Or, where a wet mix ratio has caused the product to shrink, become brittle and pull away from the surface.

Cuticle oils add moisture to both the natural nail & product. It fills the little channels, forcing out water and air, this makes both more likely to be flexible and less brittle. It cannot break the bond between product and nail. Especially as in some products, such as Retention+ where the bond literally is a mimic of the bonding within the nail plate layers itself.

Once lifting has started it's most likely the product is not coping with stress applied to it, and is forcing more of the product off. Or as mentioned, it's shrinking and tearing the bond free - wet mix ratio problem.
