my client has been cutting her own cuticle and I don't know how to help her she is old and that is why she is doing this she has nothing else to do her nail look horrible but she love to get her nails done. they had the doctor look at her but I don't know if I can do more for her then him. Thanks

Its a shame none of the more experienced geeks have tried to answer your question, Im afraid I dont know the answer to this so im prob not gonna be much help but have you tried to get her to use something like solar oil? Im presuming this is a habit shes finding hard to break......and a bit of a viscious circle...if she doesnt cut them....they grow back thick and hard......if she does cut them.........this encourages the skin to grow back thick and hard! So either way she will have thick hard skin inviting her to trim it off.....if you could manage to get her into a new habit.....rubbing in solar oil religiously everyday....this would make the skin soft and therefore hopefully the temptation for her to cut the skin wouldnt be so great.

Hope that helps a bit and sorry I couldnt be of more help! x

Thanks I have some oil I will give her some! I thought that may work I put a lot on when I do her nails she only did it to one hand. Their trying to stop her from doing it I work in a nursery home.

My mother does the same thing. It must have been common for older generations to cut cuticles. I've given her some Solar Oil & told her she needs to stop. But as someone said, I think it becomes a habit with some people.

Good luck!

Using CND cuticle eraser daily will help to keep the cuticle soft and in time it will shrink and improve.

I have 2 clients who used to cut and they both use cuticle eraser and solar oil. Their cuticles have now totally recovered and look fantastic. The secret is regular use - HTH

Thanks for all the help! I have some oil and I will give it to her hopefully she will put it on. I do put a lot on her when I do her nail she been coming ever week which will help to and I just put clear polish on her so it can breath a little.

You won't be covering the eponychium with enamel so there's no problems, providing it's not an open sore.
If you're unsure then leave the nail natural with nothing on it at all.

You've had some fantastic advice re which products to 'prescribe' for your client, by cutting the skin they're making it form scar tissue which will make them want to cut it away even more than they do already.
