I have recently passed my foundation in acrylics assessment training with Young Nails. I have only ever used Young Nails tips, which I have found to be really good.

I recently ran out, and bought some different tips from a local wholesaler, but didn't notice that they had really deep wells, where the young nails tips don't have a well as such, just a really thin edge, which I find looks good on the nail bed. I don't understand the reason for a deep well, can someone tell me what are deep well tips used for. Wouldn't you see them through the transclucent pink acrylic on the nail bed?

Tips with wells have to be carefully blended so that you don't see them through the translucent colour over the nail bed. It is basic knowledge that you should know how to blend a tip perfectly and without causing damage.

Tips with wells can still be used by every type of client, but the new well less tips are quicker to apply (and nail techs are always looking for ways to speed up ... which though good are not always the best way in every situation).

There are times when a tip with a well I feel is a better option to use than a well less tip. An example would be a really bad nail biter for me. I like the way a tip with a well encloses and protects the end of the badly bitten nail and how it helps to elongate the look of the nail bed and gives it some side walls. Of course there are other ways to do this as well which I also use depending on the severity of the bitten nails.

Thanks for that. I use young nails and they only sell the tips without wells. It makes sense to use on them nail biters, and will try them out :)
