Detached nail plate, help please

This isn't my client it's my neighbours daughter but because I do gel nails she wanted my advice. I don't do acrylics but she had acrylics for her holiday, caught her thumb on her suitcase and this happened. The nail plate has completely removed itself from the bed but is still attached at the base. Any ideas what the best thing is for her to do???

Go to the doctor. He or she will probably remove the nail and cover it to help it regrow safely. She can't do anything alone, and you can't do anything for her.
