Can anyone tell me why diabetes is a contra-indication for spray tanning as this was never mentioned in my training?

Thanks

Hi hun It is fine to spray diabetics. I have never heard of this before and spray a few clients that have it. Where did you hear this as this was not mentioned to me either.
Maybe it's only with a certain solution? Maybe it contains some sort of sugar?
Contact the company of which solution you use and ask them. That would be your best bet xxx

It's fine to spray diabetics.

Obviously the tanning solution contains DHA (natural sugar) but it doesn't penetrate anywhere deep enough to affect the blood.

The only things in my experience that do penetrate that deep to the lymph and blood, are oils.

Thanks for that, I just wondered as I've seen it on a fellow spray tan tech's price list that Diabetics have to obtain a letter from their doctor to confirm that it is ok, prior to treatment.

Strange!

Hi I am a spray tan trainer and I do say this in my manuals to my students:
Although (DHA) is made with sugar/cane roots there is no known medical reason why a diabetic cannot have a spray tan? The solution does not penetrate the skin or go into the blood stream so it should not affect the blood sugar level ( make sure the skin is not broken or weeping) if in doubt get the client to consult with their GP

Given the level of penetration of solution into the skin there are no reasons why this treatment should not be undertaken on an individual with this condition.
