Hi when I did my training several years ago I was told that I could carry out manicures and pedicure for diabetics as long as their condition was under control and they were not insulin dependant (injecting).
What are the currant guidelines as I have had this queried.

It depends how and what type diabetic they are.
Some clients loose feeling in their extremities hence you need to be extra cautious also any nicks cuts can possibly lead to infection and even worse yet turn uncreated and loos of toe or limb or sepsis and death.
I am not over exaggerating. I speak about a person I personally knew very well.
She stood on hot paving by her pool without feeling it and something small turned into sore then ulcer then bcoz the client heals at much slower rate the. Your regular non diabetic clients it gt worse and she eventually died.

So don't take it lightly. We not chiropodist , however a general soak and scrub and tidy nails and nice massage is excellent for those clients.

Beauty at your finger tips!
