Hello fellow geeks :)

I have just received my new IBD product (LOVE IT!) yesterday and did a full set of gel on myself. However somehow I didn't order the bonder (pregnancy brain I suppose)... and I used a different brand of gel bonder (fusion gel from lightbox) and it seems to have worked fine but I am just wondering if this is acceptable or if I should not use this on my clients... could it cause lifting?

Thanks for your help :)

Hi,

I'll probably get a slap on the wrist for saying this, but I've used normal primer and I have never had any issues!

i have several ibd gel polises and i gotta say im not impressed with the bonder, it seems to be very tempermental! (i'll probably get a slap on the wrist for saying this too…) ive been using them with light elegance bonder and it works GREAT:)

It's really ok to use other brand's primer, at least I have never had any issues with doing that.

It is always better to use a complete system. But, what is probably more important is to understand what TYPE of primer is needed for the specific system and the actual role it plays.

A supplier won't be able to help you if you have a service breakdown and you haven't followed their instructions

I do remember using IBD primer a long time ago and having major lifting issues for some reason, although this could have been chalked up to my inexperience and maybe bad prep at the time? Either way, it has worked just fine with the bonder that I used this time. Thanks for the replies :)
