Hello! I had my first day with young nails on sunday. Ive been practising alot on my hands and ive done a set on myself, my mother in law and my sister in law. My set and mother in laws are far frm perfect..but there ok.im getting there.I wasnt very happy with sister in laws as she's a nail biter..her nails where pretty short. but she did insist i do them. I didnt blend them very well, but they were ok. TBH I wasnt happy with them at all. But mine and MIL are ok. Anyway i got a msg on skype before saying that she had to go to a nail salon to have them sorted out as the base/cuticle hurt when she applied pressure. I did ask what the nail tech had advised her was wrong. But she wnt tell me!!! (great considering its pretty importantI should kno!!) Anyway I will phone my tutor in the morning, but if anyone had any idea what ive done in the meantime i would be very greatful. Thanks :D xx

What length did you do them hun? talk us through what you done so we can help

what do u mean?? Like how long off her nail or the width? sorry im still newto this lol. If you mean length as in how long, not very long at all. Ive got a pic but it wont let me bloomin upload it lol x

150grit file
pushed back cuticles, did protein layer and took the shine off. filed them slightly just to take the corners off. swiped all nails. Put the tips on but a bit too far down im thiking...her nails were really short due to her nail biting tho :s I tried to blend them in but im scared of going into her nailbed so i didnt do it very well. then swiped again, put on the protein bond (two layers) Then applied pinks and whites. Files them with I formation. Buffed, smiped and top coat. yes I kno there very crap...but they were my first set one someone else!! Lol xx I just want to add i wasnt happy with them AT ALL lol xx

sorry if thats more info than u needed!! ahaha!! Im still very green lol xx

I can view the pic,,,tbh u are new ( so am I well relatively compared to some of the geeks ) I can see ghost lines or shadows on all nails, this means ur tip has not been blended properley, did you get taught this??

I cant think of anything wihch would make your zone 3 area hurt unless ur file has touched the natural nail plate, but tbh they dont even look blended in,, I'm sure other geeks will be waaaay more exp than me to advise. But hey we all been there we just gotta ensure our educators are there to do just that,,,EDUCATE. xxxx

what did you use ur 150 grit file for...... I will never use anything lower than 240 grit on the natural nail. I would say if you used this as part of your prep on natural nail this may be the cause, esp if used near the epinichium area (zone 3) xxxx was it young nails you done your doing your training with??? xx

And hey,,,mine were worse,,lol...we all get there in the end,,,and im far from there xxx

maybe you applied too much product to far upto to the cuticle..
to be honest if u push pressure onto my nail extensions they hurt,

sounds like shrinkage pain...it would have settled down.

To tackle a nail biter so early on in your training is never a good idea...it destroys your confidence.

I think you may have applied the product too think in zone 3...which for a beginner and on a nail biter is easy done as there is so little nail to work with that you can almost loose your zones...

don't beat yourself up over this....just keep practising.
