Hi,

I passed my exam with NSI Gel at of July and NSI Acrylic (l&p) at end of Septmeber. So far I've just been doing the odd family and friends. Had a client last night, my Brother's friend, and I just keep thinking the filing could be better, and the shape.... But then part of me thinks if i keep going there will be no nail left :irked: Are there any tips, as i'm doing the prep well, (her last set lasted 4 weeks!!) and getting faster, applying product has always been fine, just need to make to perfect :) Its the filing that seems to take the longest

Should i maybe invest in one of those hand trainers?? If so, where would i get one at a god price? Any advice would be lovely, as I would like to be faster and better soon, as it makes me sad

Thank yooou. F. xx

Practise, practise, practise.Ideally you need to be doing a set a day...not allways possible I know.
The more you do, the more you'll be finding your brush doing the work for you and you'll be spending less time filing and it will become a lot easier.
Spend time looking at tutorials on this site to inspire you to carry on.
A nail trainer is a fab investment when models arn't available....try an auction site ( good for this kind of thing, not products )
I was told I'd have to do at least 100 sets before it all finally clicked into place...it's true!
God luck

soooo true!! believe me, ive been doing nails full time now for just under 2 years *i graduated January '08* and i still get down on myself sometimes. but that just goes to show that we actually care what our nails look like.
i absolutely 100% agree with you Del, ive been told that before as well.

from my training with INM; we were always told to start handfiling on the side walls first. rest the file parallel with the side wall and make sure the file is resting straight against the nail, not on an angle as this will either taper your nail too much or cause it to flare a bit. ive been doing this and ive noticed that my shape has improved so much! this way, the enhancements follow the shape of the clients natural nail. :)

I find the filing does take the longest too, & i do become conscious of how long it does take me to file :S. i passed in jul 09 so i know i probably need bit more time anyway as do you, but still its on my mind :( If the nail trainer is any good let me know as i was also thinking of investing in one too! :) need to build up my speed asap too. :D
