Hi all

I've not done these in a while and I have a friend who wants coloured gel polish tonight.

Do we wipe off the sticky dispersion layer before putting on the Gloss Finish (right at the end)? Can the Gloss be put over a sticky layer?

Sorry for the dumb question - it's just been a long time!

Thanks

You put the gloss straight over the colour and remove the dipersion layer right at the end HTH

Thanks Adele!

What I'd been doing before was something like:

Bonder
Clear Gel
2 Coats of Gel Polish
Clear Gel
Gloss

But I was finding that if I wiped the dispersion layer after the polish or the second coat of clear gel, I was getting some colour coming off. Perhaps it wasn't curing it long enough - I'll go over my instructions again when I pick up my case later. Any advice is always welcome!

I'm primarily an acrylic girl - gels are still a bit funny for me. So thanks!

if you are applying a coat of clear gel after the colour layers then you shouldnt get any colour coming off as the clear gel is between the colour and the dispersion layer.

What brand of gel are you using? How long are you curing the layers for and which UV lamp are you using?

I've been using IBD gels, but not an IBD lamp. The recommended cure time is 3 min, so I know I have to make sure I'm curing long enough (mine has a 2 minute timer, so I have to do 1 1/2 sessions). I know theoretically that no colour should budge after a clear coat is applied - I just remember the last time I did these, I felt like I was going back and redoing "bald" patches.

I've been trained in gels, but don't do them very often.

Thanks for your help ! :)
