hello
i'm desperate for people to practise on and there really isn't many people i know so i was thinking of advertising 'free or nearly free' beauty treatments somewhere and i was just wondering if i would need to have insurance in place to do that kind of thing? if the treatments are what i need to do to pass an assesment then i would do them for free, otherwise i would charge just for the products.

could somebody help me in reguards to insurance and weather it is needed just to practise? is there special insurance for people just training? i'm really worrying how i'm ever going to start doing the treatments on full paying clients as i am not getting any practise what so ever and i feel like it's just dead money.

ruth mills she knows a site that you adsvertise youe training needs and people get in touch somthing guini pig i think xx they know you are training so its not a problem , ile see if i can find it x

thank you for your reply, i've been on that site - i've posted on it and asked people from my area if i could help them with their requirements and if they wanted to do a swap and i've not had any replies back. i was thinking of putting an advert in my local paper but of course don't want to end up in trouble by not having something i should have kwim? x

think you do. just on the client record cards , state this is a training treatmentand free of chare and not liable x they are volunteering after all..:D

there would be a charge though as there is no way i could not charge for the products, i've been lucky that family have helped pay costs for courses so doing them isn't a problem but the rest is up to me and although i'm mainly doing beauty treatments just to give me some kind of identity apart from 'mummy' anything extra is a bonus. we are ok money wise with my partners wages but we wont be if i offered treatments for free haha :\ i've spent well over a thousand pound on 2 courses and i'm just getting no practise at all and really worrying that i have wasted money when the money could have been spent on my partner changing career :\ def trying to find people to practise on is the hardest part of training! x

When I was training I did all my family and friends,I also did my neighbours.I didn't charge.
You wont be using a great deal of products for your practice certainly not enough for you to feel at a big loss,it's not like you will be doing back to back treatments all day every day as you would in a salon. So I think you have to accept that there will be a minimal loss but it will give you a big gain in as far as experience etc.
You cant charge whilst training, even for products because this would invalidate any insurance you may have as you are not qualified.Im sure you will find most people will be willing to give you a nice tip anyway which would easily cover your costs.Your main loss will be your time....however this is worth it imo as this gives you experience.HTH

facebook .. i set up a fan page and and am going to add a tab saying discount treatments for test products... ask people to add name, and training price.. like they do at college x Salon guineapig | Facebook

i tend to just keep myself to myself so i don't know any neighbours really (doesn't help that the area i am in is mainly full of old people either! couldn't imagine them being interested in spray tans and lash extensions haha) and don't have any friends either as for the past 4years i've not bothered with socialising i've just been looking after my little ones (maybe that has something to do with why i'm so eager to just do something for me) - though i think joining some mummy and baby groups might be a must now! that's why i was thinking about putting an advert in a newspaper for eg. i really am that worried i'm not going to be able to improve haha. i've just messaged all the females on my partners friends list on facebook so fingers crossed somebody will be interested haha. i feel so weird messaging people who i don't know obviously i know i need to get over this whole not being confident thing but good god it's hard :|

Why not join netmums and you can make friends and they have local boards for your area you can advertise free of charge? x
