I'm salon based (thank goodness) but occasionally myself & a colleague will do a Pamper Party. On the one hand they are good financially, but on the other.....urggh...lugging all that equipment.

Had a party to do last weekend. The one from hell! My navigator wasn't very good so we ended up going the 'scenic route' way. Took an hour to get there instead of 30 mins .

So, we get there, finally. Client says we can set up in her summer house. Me & colleague get 'portable' couch out of boot (they really aren't that at all are they?), follow her towards summer house, which would you believe it is about 150 feet from my car, AND uphill AND up a few dotted about steps:eek:. I'm in a pretty grumpy mood by now and trying very hard to be all smiles to clients.

By the time we've lugged 2 couches and all the bits needed we are understandably pooped. Did mainly back massages on guests so of course by the time we'd finished then trundled all the way back to the car, we were well & truly in agony with our backs, me especially.

We did get a tip though with the balance of the money. There were 6 guests having 2 treatments each & me & colleague got ooh £6, between us!

I think I've only just about recovered from the ordeal.

So, for you therapists out there, what nightmare situations have you had, either in salon or mobile?

Portable couch - and 3 trips to the car - do my nappa in.

I find mobile work so hard which amazes me why some people charge it so cheaply.

Its like getting to work on time 5 times a day.

I have had to lug equipment up 3 flights of stairs for a pamper party 2 - got there at 10am and got home at 9pm - it was really hard work - I crammed my lunch down my throat.
I was tipped well though.

Some people don't even help with the equipment either - god I'm whingeing and I'v done this for 5 years now:eek:

I have only just started as a mobile, so don't have many clients yet,but getting things in and out of the car is hard as my car is quiet high.xxx

This really annoys me , Ive a client who I have to park round the corner from ,as she lives in a small cul d sac, which is jammed out with cars in the evening. She knows I haVe to trapes my gear round the corner, but I get no offer of help from her or her fella.:irked:

Oooohhh yes - thats another orrible thing about being mobile - not being able to get parked outside or near the house.

Yes and cul-de-sac's where its so full of cars you have to reverse out.

Debbie you have to say to your client that your arm is hurting and might have to get it checked and it must be from carrying equipment such a long way - she may get the hint and give you a hand.

I hated mobile so much that I stopped doing it.

I cant see the point in stressing out driving to someone, then having to lug everything in and out of the car, setting everything up and down AND THEN DOING THE TREATMENT. and all for ONE treatment!!!!

at least with a pamper party you are set up for the night.

I know thank goodness. Every time we do a PP I say to my colleague "thank googness I don't do mobile work" Not my idea of fun at all.

'Why stand when you can sit' is my philosophy :)
