So I want to start getting a regular appointment to have a Hollywood wax. (hope I'm using the right term for all off!) I have a few too many questions first, most I'm sure you've heard many times before.

Being that it is a delicate matter and I'm not the most confident person, I'm rather anxious about revealing my foo-foo to someone. I've only ever had my boss wax my bikini line and in just not sure I want her to delve further in. Not because I don't trust her but I wouldn't want any of the other girls at work seeing my bits. I work with them, I see them nearly every day. I think I would just feel more comfortable having a stranger do it. Hope you understand so far!

I would just like to know the pros and cons. What should I be looking out for; am I looking for a hot wax treatment? If so, what is the process of this?
Also, am I suitable for a Hollywood? If there is such a case as not being so. Without going into too much detail, I've got thick hair and a lot of it. I consider myself average and not teen wolf but there is definitely no lack of growth down there. When my boss waxes my armpits she has said I do have thick hair growth. I'm part Italian and there is some Irish there somewhere and she has said this may be a factor in my hair growth. I just wanna save myself the embarrassment of someone turning me away.

Whatever information and advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

Definately somewhere that uses hot/non-strip wax and preferably a reputable brand like Berins, Lycon, Perron Rigot. A salon that promotes its intimate waxing service would be a better bet than one that only does them occasionally.
Just do a google on waxing specialists in your area, like waxed works - they specialise and use lycon.

Good luck!!!:)

Oh yes, before you go, give yourself a trim as long hairs hurt more. Down to about 1cm.

If you google for Kim Lawless and find a salon/therapist thats been trained by Kim. There are loads of female geeks on here that have been trained by Kim and her extreme waxing technique is renowned as oneof the best and most comfortable methods..
Hot wax is the only choice...!!
Good luck

First of all, a good therapist will not turn you away. That's not something you need to worry about.

I'm a fairly hairy person and I get waxed every 4 weeks. Once you get into the swing of things and had it done several times, you'll notice a big difference in the hair growth.

Don't pay too much attention to your armpits as a guide. I get my pits waxed every 2 weeks because they are always hairier than when getting my legs or braz done - and the hair seems to grow faster than anywhere else.

I'd probably prefer to find someone else to do it for me too rather than someone you work with. Considering they have to get up close and personal with your bits...but don't stress over the whole procedure, you'll be fine.

i understand what you are saying about not wanting somebody you know to do it, the therapist i usually go to for my beauty treatments offers hollywood waxing and i want one haha but i keep thinking how can i sit opposite her while she does my nails after she's pretty much had my ass in her face?! so i completely know what you mean! i don't think there's any dignified way to get your woohoo waxed... even if clients are covered with a towel you need to take it off when you're ready to wax them so you can see what you are doing and so you can get the spatula in the area *shrug* so it's pretty pointless me asking for a towel to cover myself up with haha :p

i don't know why you'd be turned away for having thicker hair to be honest. if the waxer you choose trims and is using a good quality wax then there really shouldn't be a problem with wax snapping/not removing the hair/you being left in a sticky mess. i don't ever tell my clients to trim before coming to me because i want to make sure they aren't trimming too short and because alot of women these days aren't straight up and down and if they are gonna get out the mirror and start putting their legs behind their heads to trim here and there etc etc then they might aswell just save themself some money and remove the hair themselves full while they are down there kwim?

don't forget you don't have to go to a highstreet salon (which i think are really scary, daunting places haha), there are home salons and mobile therapists around. one of the reasons i chose the therapist i did to have my regular treatments with was because she has a home salon and there's only her there. x

Thank you all for your advice I do feel so much better about it. I'll get in contact with Kim, if I have no luck for that in my area I definitely know what to look for now :) x
