Hi Geeks I have tried to look up old threads on extraction etc but they seem to be about nail stations. I am new to spray tanning and have bought a tent and have an Iwata power jet pro airbrush - gives a lovely fine mist. I only have a basic air filter unit really to stop stuffiness in the beauty room. I have found that after spraying there is an amount of spray tan that falls on my shelves and floor outside of the tent. Is the answer a more powerful extraction unit or am I over spraying? I am wondering whether just to do the lotion application as cleaning up after every tan would be soooo hard work! I only have a small room. Any advice welcome.

I am also new to spray tanning, i have been on a course yesterday and they recommend a extractor fan unit, whether you are spraying one person or a party. If you look on spray tan supermarket. com they sell different sizes. Can i ask where you bought your machine, i am in the process of looking around to buy my equipment

Hi Jackie I bought it from the Airbrush Company they are the main supplier I believe. I got a really good deal, really helpful company. Yes I guess I need an extraction unit but I see on here that some get away without using one. I have do have limited space and have to move the couch out of the way so I guess I was hoping to get away with it!!!!

Do you have a pop up tent that you spray in, at thecourse they had the extractor fan in the back of the tent. I have read on here that not many people use them, but anything helps if you don't have to do as much cleaning afterwards !!

Yes I have a pop up tent - I thought that would be enough. Someone did mention to me that I may have been spraying too far away from the client, I wondered whether it was my technique.

They say about 9-12 inches away, may be you have more overspray than you think. Try toi contact companies and ask if they lease the extractor fans, so you can try it before you buy.

Yes that idea. I will try that. Hope your tanning goes well. Have you get a system in mind yet or still looking?

I'm still looking to see what deals i can get. I will be mobile so need something light to carry

One tip I can pass on is that I bought my tent from sienna x . I bought the bronze coloured one. Not only is it a lovely colour but it lets more light in than the black tents. :)

The Course i went on on Sunday had both black and Bronze you could tell the difference. Have you got a compressor or turbine machine??

I have a compressor - it is virtually silent. I bought the Iwata Smart Jet Pro (not the power jet as I mentioned!!) It is the one used by St Tropez. Very light - takes about 10 -12 minutes to spray. I did not want a turbine machine.
