I had a client in yesterday for a fakebake spray tan and she called today to say the tan hasn't taken to her skin at all. It was the darker solution. Before she came for tan I told her to exfoliate but not to use any products containing oil. She is quite fair and wanted to be black but I explained to her fakebake wont make her "black" because it goes with your natural pigmentation of skin and would give her a "holiday look". Can anyone suggest a reason for tan not taking to her skin or do you think she just isnt as tanned as she wants to be?! xxx

could just be shes not as dark as she wants to be, or she ignored your advice, you would be surprised the amount of people using dove & imperial leather or any shower gel containing oils & not realising it ask her to come back in and check what shower gel she is using xx

I got her to come back into salon, her tan was absolutely fine apart from her arms that looked slightly flaky- turns out she hasnt moisturised a day in her life and I dont believed she had exfoliated either! Problem solved lol! xx

Just goes to show it is prudent to always get the client back into you to see for yourself what they are complaining about as invariably most tan outcome problems emanate from the customers own doing be it either with poor pre or post tan care

Completely agree with Collin here, I had a call from a potential new clients today who has booked for Shellac Pedi and a spray tan on Friday.
She asked which tan I use and when I said Fake Bake she said it didnt work well on her when she had it last time. I asked her if she had followed pre tan advice, hair removal, exfoliation at least 24 hrs before, no moisturisers before tan then oil free moisturisers and she said no that she hadnt been told any of that before.
I advised her to come for a patch test on Wednesday and I'll give her a tanning advice slip and talk her through what she had to do so it will be interesting to see if the tan comes out any differently this time although Im pretty sure it will be fine this time.

I have to say, this is the 3rd client in the last two weeks that have said they have never before been given the pre & post tan advice that I give them when they have been to other salons.

I always tell my clients that the more they prepare their skin and look after it after the better and longer lasting their tan will be.

Not quite sure if other salons in my area aren't as thorough or just clients have switched off and aren't really listening!!!

I have been finding this myself.

After searching far and wide to find myself a lovely fake tan i decided on xen tan. i love the colour, the smell, the application..... BUT !!!!!! It doesnt take aswell on my lower legs ( shins & calfs) for some bizzar reason. i always follow pre care advice and all i now use for showering is simple and moisturiser is oil free fake bake.

The colour from my knees up is lovely, thighs n all.

Im clueless ??????????????????

I find that with every tan legs dont take aswell as rest of body, usually I spray clients legs twice (wait a couple of mins for it to dry then spray again) and this seems to work.

Thanks every1 for comments, some clients are just hard work I think! :) xx
