Nail Effect

Sorry for the completely off topic thread 
But I was just looking at CNDs face book pages at Jan vids (love Jan)
and I saw what looked like gold minx stick on nails.
I now realise this gold is a shade that was created with colours & effects. I also know CND are all over fashion week and have seen the teams create these stick on's for the shows numerous of times.
My question is how do you make them? Is it a secret only CND knows lol :lol: or is it just as simple as they just shape velocity tips ect? but how comes you can just peel them off of a strip?
