Hello fellow geeks!
So our salon is packed! Everybody is working full speed and turning out some amazing work, before we was just all chipping in, 1 could do nails, some do tanning and others do beauty, it's become so good we have hade to take on a beautician who is fully booked within 3 weeks and I will be taking on a spray tan technician to specifically do tans, hairdressers are dressing hair but I want to offer extensions but nobody is qualified(if you have to be) or has the time to learn nevermind put new customers in! So I've decided to approach a local mobile stylist who does extensions, I know she wants to stay mobile but I reckon she would love to tap into our customers, I'm under the impression we have no costs, she turns up and provides the service then we get the follow up work including beauty and it's just an extra service to bring customers to HeadQuarters, yet my partner doesn't want to do that and she wants to charge percentage, I need all your advice as what to do, I don't want to ask for percentage which is too high and put her off all together as we get a good few requests for extensions, thank you :D

I'm inclined to agree with your partner - being based in a salon will undoubtedly increase her customers, else why would she even consider it. Offering her a percentage deal is a no risk option for her and a win win situation for both of you. As an extensions specialist myself i would have jumped at a chance like this, i've had to set up my own salon instead - a far more expensive option i can tell you lol

Definitely take a percentage...your booking her app's, promoting her services and if you get her a few clients back to back then she's not having to travel around between clients either..thus saving travelling costs. I'm predominantly an extensionist too, and wud jump at the chance of doing this..don't be shy, your giving her a very good opportunity.

Things to consider though, decide in advance how to deal with any complaints you may get or if anyone has any problems with the hair. You need to rely on her giving as good customer service as you would yourself, prompt response to issues etc. You will definitely get clients who might struggle to look after the hair initially or get a bad batch of hair, decide how this will be handled. If she's already experienced then she will have already come across this herself so just find out how she deals with this. You don't want a regular client of yours to get them, have probs, then be left hanging around for days/weeks with an unsolved problem..giving you a bad name in the process.

Oh and with regards to how much percentage then it really depends how much profit she makes, i think something around 15 to 20% of the profit is reasonable...but ask her what her thoughts are on this. Sometimes it's better to put the ball back in her court, she may feel like this alliance is worth more to her.x
