I've had a few clients lately with short nails when having a manicure and they've wanted french polish, is there any way of avoiding getting it everywhere?

I hold back their skin with my thumb so any overspill goes onto me! It's fiddly when they're short and I usually end up going back over to clean up with cotton wool on an orange stick dipped in polish remover. I understand why people want it though as it makes short nails look longer. But it can be a pain

ye thats exactly what I do now, thought that might be the easiest way, thanks weezie

Have you tried using a dotting tool...thats what i used when i did kids nail art parties and they wanted french..

If someone has really short nails, I use a white acrylic nail art striper paint, really good for kids who want french too, and lasts as well as polish if sealed in well with a couple of coats of top coat.xx

How would you use the dotting tool for the French mani? Sounds interesting. Thanks! :)

At college I was taught that it's ok to go onto the client's fingertip with the white if it means you get a good crisp line on the actual nail, then remove the excess.

However I have had lots of strange looks from clients when i've done this so I've also started using a white striper instead for really short nails.

Hope this helps xx

i use a very small precision painter brush and then clean off any excess with a cutical pusher wrapped in a little cotton wool dipped in product remover.hth

ive heard this tip , i dont use it but ive tried it and its quite good lol
take an orange stick thing, cuticle stick thingy , you know what i mean and place it under the free edge and then paint from stick to nail then onto stick, no white on fingers only on the stick
