hi i am new to nails and haven't used the french tips before do i blend these? they have a really small well but when just put on to natural nail the smile line is too low is this just because my clients nails are too short for them or am i supposed to blend them at all??? thanx!!!

kim, ideally your client should have a little length to her natural nail to make the french tips look good, unless she has a very long nail bed.
and no, don't blend the well area, just ensure that the contact between tip and natural nail is good so that there's not a big ridge at thre back of the well area.
good luck

Hey Kimberley,

Welcome!! What system do you use? Have you tried creating your own permenant french? It's alot more satisfying and rewarding and you can also customise your smiles, colour etc to suit each clients.

However, in answer to your question, i have only tried white tips once and they were wellless, so there was no need to blend, perhaps pre file the smile line to thin it down before applying with out ruining the smile already there...

hi,i would have said that if you think that the smile line looks to low down on the nail then it is because your cliebts nails are to short to have white tips.therefor the finished nail would look unbalanced as your client would have more white than pink which is not a good look.
im ot sure if this works as ive never tried it on aclient but if you get the white tips that have a deep smile line and then only stick the 'ears' to the nail this should leave a gap in between the white tip and the clients real nail you can fill the gap using a coverage powder to extend the nail bed.i saw this in a article for scratch magazine.it seemed to work really well.i did it on my nail trainer and it looked fine.hth

thank you all for your help! i do acrylic and have only just got my certificate so am just trying new things and not charging very much for the time being!! am also looking into more courses to do gel and sculpting
